Each shot from a Siege Tank that is in Siege Mode will kill or heavily damage the intended target. What the tanks lack in speed, they make up for in sheer power. It's a powerful unit at both short and long ranges, and is a great compliment to the Terran line up. One of the most common strategies for the Terran is to utilize the Siege Tank. Nukes are great at breaking through this defense, as just 2 nukes will blast apart any units and structures that are blocking your path. A common mistake for players is to 'turtle', a term used when someone hides in their base with a ton of defenses. They make a great surprise, but are also perfect for cracking open a defense. Try your best to hide this dot, by dropping it on something that's of a similar color, or where there is so much movement happening that it's tough to spot. Lastly, when you go to launch, keep in mind that a red dot appears for all players. When you're ready to launch, make sure the Ghost isn't spotted walking around, or else the enemy will have time to prepare.
When building the Ghosts and Nuclear Silo, try to keep them hidden as best as possible. The key to making Nukes work, is that they remain a surprise. Nukes should only come into play when you're in a long match and are looking for something with more impact than just a Dropship and some Marines. To be clear, they should never be a 'Goal'. They are a very late game tech, requiring special Silos, Ghosts and lots of resources, but they pack a powerful punch, dealing several hundred damage in a single shot. The single most devastating attack in the game, Terran's have access to Nuclear Missiles. Also, Dropships aren't cheap! If the Marines die, that's okay but don't let the Dropships die or you'll notice your Minerals running out real fast. Surprise Drops slow the enemy down, but it's part of a one-two punch, so make sure you have something more substantial to back it up. The main thing to be cautious of with this strat is that you don't rely on it fully. Losing the Marines is rarely a big deal because they are so cheap, and if the enemy is slow to respond you can often times drop in, destroy something then pick your marines back up and make a hasty exit. Quickly highlight them, hit the Stimpak button and go to work!ĭoing this just once near their Minerals will result in several workers getting killed, or you can do this near some key buildings, like near a Protoss Pylon that is powering important buildings. Once it gets near the enemy base, look for a good spot to slip past their defences then immediately drop your Marines. Now carefully fly it around the map to your enemy, trying your best not to be spotted. Although possible by all races, the Terran excel at it because of their, you guessed it, Marines.īuild a Dropship, then fill it with Marines. One of the most popular aspects of the Terran, is their ability to do Air Drops. Morale of the story? Always be making Marines! Due to their low cost, you also won't feel so bad if you lose a group of 12. Although weak, their attack speed with Stimpak is so insanely high that they are capable warriors against several large units, including Battlecruisers, Carriers and Mutalisks. There will always be a reason to have some on hand, so make sure you do! They can stomp out small groups of invaders, get slotted into a Bunker for extra defense, or run around the map in groups of 4 or 5, scouting and killing off small expansions before they even begin.Įven late in the game, Marines are still a necessity. The Marine is the backbone of the Terran army. They get even better if you have a Medic to support them and if you buy a few upgrades, especially Stimpak which increases their attack speed. With decent range, mobility and a rather high attack speed, it can dish out tons of damage at an extremely cheap cost. An argument can be made for it being the most universally useful unit in the game. It can't be stated enough how great the Marine is.
